I've given up trying to write and describe Sun Ra's sound. He was not of this planet, I don't know if anyone saw, heard or played music like him and quite frankly I find it mindblowing that his cacophony of chaotic interplanetary sounds, that appear to be bursting through sonic wormholes and dimensions produces a sound that I cannot stop listening to. 

Recommend this record for those trying for an 'in' into the world of Sun Ra. Good Luck, dear traveller.

Space Is The Place – highlighted by the rousing 21-minute title track – is both an essential album and a great onramp for new listeners to travel the spaceways of Sun Ra’s other-worldly blend of avant-garde jazz, experimental rock, and Afrofuturism.
